Produce overlays for membrane switches and control panels.
Overlay Media refers to, but are not limited to materials for membrane switches, control panels, and sub-surface signage.
Armalex and LexEdge are series of rigid clear polycarbonates with textured or smooth surfaces. All have smooth print surfaces that are protected by a mask that is removed before printing.
Many overlays are printed on the back side (sub-surface) and then laminated with adhesive. We have both sub-surface media and laminates that achieve similar results in the same applications. Armalex and Tuff Cover laminates are more chemical resistant.

Armalex Fine Matte 10 mil is a rigid clear polycarbonate with an embossed fine matte textured top surface and a smooth printable surface for printing.
Armalex 10 mil is a rigid clear polycarbonate with an embossed velvet textured top surface and a smooth printable surface for printing. For non-outdoor applications. Use “LexEdge Outdoor” or Armalex & Tuff Cover laminates for UV.
Armalex 5 mil Velvet is a thinner more flexible clear polycarbonate with the same textured surface as the 10 mil version, with a smooth sub-surface for printing. For non-UV applications. Use LexEdge 10 mil Outdoor media, or Armalex & Tuff Cover laminates as UV durable laminate alternatives to sub surface printing.

Armalex 10 mil. Gloss/Gloss10 mil reverse-print Lexan with a high-gloss top surface and a smooth surface for printing. This material has a protective mask on both sides to protect it from scratching in the production process. Not intended for long term UV exposure.
Description Rigid clear Polycarbonate with a gloss top surface and a
smooth sub-surface coated for thermal transfer printing. Armalex™ is rolled “print side”
out and has a protective mask on both sides of the Polycarbonate to protect polycarbonate
from blocking and scratching. Prior to printing remove protective mask from outside
wrap of roll. Intended uses include graphic overlays for membrane switches and control
panels, and sub-surface signage.
Thickness 10 mil. without the protective liner.
Outdoor Life Intended for indoor use. May discolor over
time with continuous exposure to UV light.
Shelf Life 1 year stored at 70º F and 50% RH.
AdhesiveAlthough Armalex™ does not have
adhesive, pressure sensitive transfer
adhesives are often used with it. Adhesives
should be compatible with polycarbonates.
Service Temperature Range -40º F to 212º F
General Application Notes Remove the protective cap from the portion of the roll intended to
be printed on. Once printed, use a paper interleaf between finished sheets if they are to be stacked. If
you must clean the surface, use distilled water and let dry before printing.
Do not expose to alcohol, strong Alkalis, Amines, Esters, Aromatic Hydrocarbons, or Ketones. Use mild
detergents or sprays to clean the gloss non-print surface. USE A 45º BLADE FOR SCORE CUTTING.
